David William Bottomley was born on January 2, 1946, in Vinton, the son of Bernard and Jane Bottomley. He graduated from Dysart High School and held a Political Science degree and a Master’s degree in Economics from Central Missouri State University. David served his country in the United States Army and served in Korea. For the last twenty years, he has been employed at General Mills in Cedar Rapids. David enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City Royals game. He also enjoyed watching his granddaughter, Mi’Asia run track and playing Bingo in Tama with his special friend, Tan. David was a very caring and giving person. He would take time for conversations with his coworkers, videotape his family members’ events, shoot baskets with his step-son, and give rides to his friends and family. David died at the age of 73 on January 3, 2019, at his home in Dysart. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Black. David is survived by his special Friend, Tan; his step-son, Michael Bergmann; step-grandchildren, Shaniqua Browning, Mi’Asia Bergmann, and MJ Bergmann; a sister, Patsy (Merle) Steva; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The burial will be in Dysart Cemetery.
