Samantha was born in Croydon, London. Her mother, Geraldine used to work as a yoga teacher and an astrologist. She also has a younger sister named Ashley and a maternal half-brother named Kristian.

Although her professional career has always been booming, she has had several health issues back to back. She has suffered from Cancer twice. In her early 30s, she was diagnosed with colon cancer and later in the year 2000, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. However, she came out strong fighting both cancers. For quite a long period of time, yoga and meditation have been a part of her schedule. She also mentioned once that it was meditation which helped her come out of such a serious disease.
Awards and recognition:
She has won the Illy Café Prize for Most Promising Young Artist. She got nominated for a Bafta Award in the year 2010. For her exemplary services to the arts industry, she was appointed as the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2011 Birthday Honors.

Sam is currently married to Aaron Johnson who is a well-known actor. Some of his famous works include Shanghai Knights, Feather Boy, The Illusionist, Family Guy, Talk to Me and some more.
