Kathleen “Kathy” Kaye Stammer was born on January 6, 1953, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Russell and Florence (Rutledge) Kroeger. She attended school in Dysart and Toledo and graduated from South Tama High School in 1971. On February 23, 1974, Kathy was united in marriage to Bruce Stammer in Toledo. The couple bought a house in Traer where they lived for 45 years, raised their children, and spent quality time with their grandchildren. Kathy loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and events. She worked in various places in Traer. The past fifteen years she worked at Hometown Foods as a cashier. Kathy was a member of Ripley United Church of Christ, the Traer Golf Course, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, going to the casino, spending time with her family, and especially traditions that will live on with her children and grandchildren. Kathy died at the age of 67 on April 20, 2020, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne; a brother, Russell; and a sister, Darlene. Kathy is survived by 3 children, Dusty Stammer of Evansdale, Amanda Stammer of Traer, and Rachael Stammer of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Clowey, Brendon, and Isabele; and six siblings, Rebecca Gaston of Traer, Lisa Wheeler of Grundy Center, Marlene Odem of Texas, Lori Odem of Newton, Kevin Kroeger of Dinsdale, and Patricia Catron of Cedar Rapids; and her dog, Daphne. Due to Covid 19, services will be held at a later date. There will be a private family burial at Buckingham Cemetery. Please direct memorials to 409 Green Street in Traer.
