Stanley Tow

Stanley “Stan” Kenneth Tow was born on August 24, 1948, in Marshalltown, the son of Kenneth and Corrine (Carlson) Tow. He graduated from LDF High School (now East Marshall) in 1966 and attended Iowa State University.  Stan served in the National Guard as a Staff Sergeant from 1969 to 1975.  On August 8, 1970, Stan was united in marriage to Necia Wright in Jefferson, Iowa.  He was an active member of his church and through the years, served as Board Chairman, Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, youth leader, lay leader, choir member, and was on the financial committee. Stan was also on the Buckingham Cooperative Board, Dysart-Geneseo School Board, and helped start the 4H group, Geneseo Generators.  He was a lifelong farmer and began raising cattle when he was 9 years old.  Stan loved farming and raising cattle with his son.  He also enjoyed music, boating, and water skiing.  Most importantly, Stan was a man of God and adored his wife, kids, and grandkids.  Stanley died at the age of 71, following a long battle with leukemia, on December 13, 2019, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, with his family by his side.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Stan is survived by his wife of almost 50 years; a son, David (Amy) Tow of Dysart; two daughters, Dianne (Ken) Wegiel of Boston and Jennifer (Branden) Petersen of New York; four grandchildren, Aidan Petersen, Emma Petersen, Hannah Wegiel, and Zachary Wegiel; a brother, Larry (Judy) Tow of Zearing; a sister, Mary Ann (Don) Lovell of Marshalltown; and many nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.
